Dirty Sanchez Live

We got approached to travel dirty sanchez as a live act, basically
what you see on the tv and put to you live on stage. of course, the 4
of us jumped at the idea of doing it as the thought of traveling the
country and the world doing gigs was amazing. i suppose you could say
we were like a live band but without the instruments and we found that
to be true as we went a few years down the line doing it. our first
tour manager bobby (used to look after punk bands back in the day but
now looked after ricky gervais etc) came up with a few ideas along
with ourselves for our live act and our first live gigs were to be 4
gigs in 4 nights at the beer cellar in Bristol. i’ll tell you now that
was 4 gigs i’ll never forget for as long as i live. we were a fucking
mish mash of absolute carnage and to tell you the truth we hardly had
a clue of what we were doing. we were a right mess but the audience
loved it. our first ever gigs and we managed to make bobby retire from
working with us, had so many arguments between us, put pressure on our
agent, almost shut down the beer cellar, chucked out of the hotel,
took too much of everything that we almost shut our own bodies down
and came home looking more or less like we’d been in a car crash.
fucking ace.
from those first 4 gigs we learned a great deal about the do’s and the
dont’s of doing what we do on stage. to do what we do every night for
7 days on the trot was almost impossible but we still carried on
regardless. we put a stop to getting to pissed before stage (pancho
didn’t listen ha) and we sort of had some idea of order and doing a
respectable show, if thats what you call it.
we began to have our shit together and our agent booked us for a full
dirty sanchez tour of the uk stopping at most of the major city’s. it
was to be the first time we had a proper tour bus. i’ll never forget
being picked up from outside the pub next to my house and jumping onto
this 8 bedded tour bus complete with living room in the back, fridge,
tables, bed’s, tv’s, toilets you name it it had it. as soon as you’re
living in one for more than 3 days the novelty soon wears off let me
tell you. days were spent sleeping and traveling, nights were spent
going fucking mental and partying. we were the first “BAND” to ever
get banned from one of these busses while we were filming the european
invasion in Italy. thats one for the book haha.
the tour went down a storm and it was talked about in the industry and
it wasn’t long before we had a phone call from the reading festival
wanting to book us to play in the comedy stage. our first gig at
reading was to this day the most talked about gig we’ve ever done. we
were the last act on and the tent just started filling and filling
until it was capacity with over 5,000 + people coming to watch us. it
was a feeling i’ll never forget walking onto that stage let me tell
you, the goose bumps were so big on my body they were visible from
outta space. before you know it we were done and off, high fives all
round covered from head to toe in blood.

After we did reading we were doing gigs everywhere, we even did
reading another 3 times and then went on to have residency’s at Ibiza
rocks in Ibiza and 2 live tours of Australia.
We now were living in each others pockets day in day out and things
started to get a little heavy which is understandable. We decided to
have a break from sanchez before it all went pete tong and fingers
crossed we’ll be back together creating carnage in the very near
future. in the mean time myself and daint went back to where it all
started doing Pritchard vs Dainton stuff.
