Pritchard vs Dainton
Before all the tv fame and fortune came about i was a proffesional
skateboarder, i have been for over 22 years. i ate, drank and slept
the stuff it was all i knew and it was all i was interested in doing.
it was when i started skateboarding i met dainton and through the
years we used to skate together in south wales and travel to all the
skate comps, demos etc. hanging with daint all the time traveling,
skating, drinking partying etc the 2 of us became really good mates/
enemy’s. when i say ‘enemys’ i mean it in a good way, the 2 of use
were always in constant competition and constantly fucking the other
one over. throughout all those years creating carnage we gathered up a
huge library of video footage full of fucked up pranks on one another,
house party’s, skating you name it we had it all on tape which is why
we then decided to create PRITCHARD vs DAINTON. whilst filming for P
vs D we had so much drunken sleeping footage of panch that he had his
own section. as for joyce, we knew him for not giving a fuck and
always turning up at skate comps and performing so we asked him if he
wanted to be part of P vs D. he agreed and whilst we were at the NAS
festival at bath and west showground he instantly went and shat off
the roof of a stable for the video hahaha. that was a very funny day
and if i can remember rightly we all ended up sitting in a jacuzzi
drinking booze, partying whilst the woman who owned the jacuzzi was
our waitress.
filming for P vs D was amazing fun and we all had a right laugh in the
process. we had all the skate sections sorted i.e matt davies, ben
layden, dan cates, alli cairns and had all the funny stuff in between
but we needed an ending so the 2 of us decided to have a boxing match
at lennox lewis’s gym in london. we gathered a little crowd made up of
all our mates and got into the ring to batter seven shades of shit
into one another. it was all going ok untill the 4th round when he
knocked me the fuck out.
eventually PRITCHARD vs DAINTON hit the shelvs in 2000 and sold like
hot cakes. it was the most talked about british skate video in history
even getting picked up by magazines like loaded, fhm and even a tv
show called ‘passengers’ who wanted to do a 10 min doco on the 4 of us
for channel 4.
whilst working for a company called Globe shoes (who still sponsor me
to this day) i had a phone call off a tallent scout called martha
delap and she told me that MTV were interested in having a meeting
with us regarding doing a new show for MTV
UK……………………………
